Band Saw Sharpening Systems
Hanchett Manufacturing was founded in 1889 by John Hanchett after he invented a hand swage for band saws. This tool led to the manufacture of some of the finest sawfiling machines and tools ever produced to enable thousands of sawfilers to maintain mills throughout the world.
Today, Hanchett is an employee
owned company that is producing several state-of-the-art machines to
enable
modern sawfilers to meet the more demanding challenges of current
sawmill
problems and opportunities. With the reduced supply of timber
available,
today's mills must produce lumber under much more difficult conditions.
Sawfilers must be able to maintain much tighter tolerances when
providing
the bandsaw to the mill.
We feel that we are able to provide to the filer not only the conventional machines, but with our new CNC sharpener and dual side grinder, the heaviest duty and most reliable grinders and sharpeners available. All parts machined and assembled in the Hanchett plant are under the watchful eye of a Quality Control inspector. Our production facilities include the machines necessary to provide high production repeatability for economy of costs. Our commitment doesn't end with the completion of the equipment. We have a staff of service technicians available, who will assist you in proper installation and training of personnel on the new machine. Knife Grinding Systems. Hanchett's philosophy of building quality products begin with total responsibility for, and control of, everything we make. This includes design and manufacturing through complete assembly and testing of all components. Each machine is custom-assembled, to fit the exact needs of individual customers. Modern, mass-production techniques are used whenever possible, to keep costs at a minimum and speed delivery. We start with the raw steel, which is precisely cut to size by a computerized plate cutter. Larger machines have iron castings for greater rigidity and extra stability in operation, thereby increasing life expectancy. Another vital point to consider are the ways. Many knife grinders use a flat, replaceable way that quickly wears, demanding much higher maintenance, while decreasing accuracy. Hanchett ways are engineered to provide long, dependable service and to hold exact tolerances for greater periods of time. By decreasing the load factor on the ways, our grinders achieve a more evenly distributed load across the ways, reducing friction, extending way life and maintaining tolerances at precise levels. To maintain optimum productivity, our knife grinders are designed with such factors in mind as horsepower, table speed, in-feed for stock removal, and the option of various knife clamping methods. We are available to recommend the proper grinder to perform your required grinding needs with optimum efficiency and productivity.
Added together, these features help make Hanchett knife grinders reliable, efficient, accurate and above all, productive. Consider the intangibles There are several other good reasons to buy a Hanchett knife grinder, many of which can't be listed on any spec sheet. For instance, Hanchett knife grinders are used by virtually every major knife manufacturer. The list even includes knife manufacturers who manufacture and sell their own knife grinders. In fact, everyone in the business knows that you can't beat a Hanchett knife grinder for consistent, reliable, accurate performance. Hanchett also has the greatest selection of knife grinders available anywhere. We provide this vast selection to allow us to help you choose the proper machine to meet your specific needs. You can rely on Hanchett! We've been a leading supplier to the lumber and paper industries since 1889. Many of our employees are second-and-third generation, with the same commitment to quality manufacturing that their fathers and grandfathers instilled before them. It's due to this long-lasting dedication that Hanchett knife grinders have performed in the field for 20, 30, and even 50 years of hard use. The best way to sum up Hanchett's commitment to a quality product at a reasonable price is in this quote by John Ruskin, which hangs prominently in our offices as a constant reminder of what we stand for: "It is unwise to pay too much but it's worse to pay too little. When you pay too much, you lose a little money - that is all. When you pay too little, you sometimes lose everything, because the thing you bought was incapable of doing the thing it was bought to do. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot - it can't be done. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better." |
